That same bus continues to Menaggio and gets there in about 45-50 minutes from Laglio. From Menaggio, you can easily take a ferry to Bellagio or Varenna. On your way back to airport, you can take the same bus to Como and then a direct bus to Malpensa. Total will be about 15-20€ per person at most. Rides are less than €6 each way. Como is at the bottom of the western leg of the lake's inverted Y shape, about 25 kilometers by road from Bellagio. It is a fun place to explore, and offers an excellent duomo that dates back to the 14th century. Beware of wild boars if you explore the wooded areas surrounding the lake. How to Get to Lake Como. Lake Como is only around an hour away by train from Milan’s Malpensa Airport. In fact, you can take a Trenord train straight from there– no need to go into the city to connect! Here are some tips: Pick up your rental car in Milan and input Bellagio into your GPS. The drive takes around 1.5 hours in normal traffic. Toll roads and highways like A9 and SS36 help you avoid traffic and get there faster. Stopping for scenic photo ops along Lake Como will prolong the drive. We love Milan and Lake Como, so it’s hard for us to choose. But if you only have 1 night available, stay on Lake Como. It’s much prettier, though Como town itself isn’t up to much.
